TYPE OF PROJECT: Secondary
DURATION: 4 months
At Venta Alta, activated carbon filters are being commissioned and since activated carbon manufacturers do not provide much information on how to commission and maintain activated carbon filters when they are not operational. Given the cost that the regeneration of these activated carbon filters implies for a DWTP like Venta Alta, it is considered necessary to carry out the experimentation in order to determine the best conditions for the adequate maintenance of the activated carbon filters, as well as to have a manual for the start-up, operation and maintenance of the activated carbon filters.
The project tries to give continuity to the tests carried out in the MAFICA I project, trying to capture all the knowledge acquired in a document that will serve as a manual for the operation of the AC filters.
The project aims to meet the following objectives:
- To experimentally determine the best conditions in which to leave the activated carbon filters when they are not operational.
- To know the potential of electrochemical treatment for activated carbon regeneration.
- Simulation of filter washing at laboratory scale.
