Last April 19, CATABB personnel, together with CABB personnel, attended a technical visit to the works for the installation of the Venta Alta activated carbon filters.
Ibone Santamaría, responsible for the work, explained in detail the whole process of the work; from the initial design in which the aim was to adapt the installation to the available infrastructures, to the operation of the installation and the improvements included. Among the improvements mentioned are the covering of the space occupied by the filters, or the reform of the weir walls and replacement of the filtering nozzles. An automated system for loading and unloading activated carbon has also been implemented.
CATABB actively participated in the project by testing the activated carbon in its installation to determine its behavior in different scenarios. It is currently continuing in this collaborative line through the MAFICA project, which aims to analyze the best method of storing activated carbon filters when they are not in operation in order to preserve their properties and increase their useful life.
