From November 14 to 16, the international congress IWA Digital Water Summit was held in Bilbao for the second consecutive year, organized by the International Water Association (IWA) with the collaboration of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium and the Spanish Association of Water Supplies and Sanitation (AEAS), in his capacity as representative of the IWA in Spain.

The congress has had the participation of some of the most prominent global leaders and experts in digitalization of the water sector and is aimed at all stakeholders involved in the water sector, with a specific focus on companies and industry, to favor communication and networking. The alternatives to the technical visit have been the Deusto siphon, the Galindo WWTP and the storm tank and CATABB installation in Etxebarri.

Representatives from China, Norway, the United States and Portugal have visited the Etxebarri rainwater tank, which is used to store and control the surplus of unitary wastewater that circulates through the Nervión-Ibaizabal Interceptor in times of heavy rainfall. With regard to the CATABB they have also learned about the technologies available for the treatment and parametric control of the CATABB and the RDi projects on purification carried out there.
