On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October, the program TEKNOPOLIS ETB broadcasted the report “the challenges of water”.

Several BRTA (Basque Research and Technology Alliance) centers are researching applications that can help in situations of water scarcity. In this program we talk about water management at CEIT where we show the simulations they perform, for example, to optimize the work of water treatment plants. We visit the Serrats cannery where Azti has launched a project to recover water from brine. In addition, the giant pumps that help to solve the water shortage in Las Vegas, designed and manufactured by Ingeteam in Beasain, are shown.

Ana Urkiaga Invetigadora of Gaiker, as representative of the joint-venture Aquambiente-Gaiker, manager of CATABB, presents the activities carried out both in the plant and in their own facilities to confirm the optimal treatments that ensure the potabilization of the water of the Nervión river and result in a quality water. On the other hand, CATABB also carries out several innovation projects related to drinking water treatment.
