The plant is designed to have a maximum treatment capacity of 240 m3/day of potable water operating continuously (24 hours/day). It has been operated with a flow rate of 6.25 m3/h.
The treatment line has the following processes:
- Intake by self-cleaning filter and raw water pumping
- Pre-oxidation:
- O3 (Pre-Ozone)
- Cl2
- ClO2
- Potassium permanganate
- Coagulation with pH adjustment
- In-line flocculation and dosing of reagents: flocculant and possibility of oxidation at this stage (potassium permanganate, Cl2, ClO2, CAP).
- Decanting (Accentrifloc type decanter)
- Sand Filtration
- Filtered water tank and filter washing and pumping to advanced oxidation/oxidation stage.
- pH adjustment (using sodium hydroxide) and advanced oxidation/oxidation:
- O3
- O3/H2O2
- UV
- Active Carbon Filtration. 2 different AC filters are operated alternatively
- Treated Water Tank
- Final disinfection with Cl2 (disinfection with ClO2 has been discarded for the time being).
- Treated water tank with 10-minute retention time
- Plant outlet tank with 12-hour retention time
